To calculate a route with intermediate points, you need to set first your Departure and Destination points. Use one of the following options:
- Tap and hold on a location on the map, then select "Drive to / Walk to". The route will be calculated from your current position to this location.
- Via "Menu - Search": use any of the available search options to find your destination. Select the "Drive to / Walk to" option in the "Locations details" view to calculate a route from your current position to this destination.
- Via the "Directions" option available in the application menu: select "Menu – Directions" and indicate the departure and the destination point. You can also add a waypoint to an already saved route by selecting an entry from the list of recent trips.
As soon as the route overview is displayed on the screen, use one of the following options:
1. On the map, tap and hold on the desired waypoint. Select "Drive via / Walk via" from the pop-up menu.
Or
2. Depending on the device model, tap and hold the Menu button or press the Search button. Use any of the available search options to find your waypoint. In the "Locations details" view, select "Drive via / Walk via".
You can add extra waypoints at any time, including during your trip.

The ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation can be installed via Google Play. You have to agree with the required permissions.
Before opening the ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation application for the first time, please make sure you have a working Internet connection on your device, preferably a Wi-Fi connection. During the initial launch the application needs to connect with the ROUTE 66 servers.

In the ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation application tap on the "Menu" key and go to "More - Settings - Alarm". You will be warned in advance that you are approaching a specific location. The warning will include a suggestive icon and the remaining distance to that location.
Speeding alarm
Select "Speeding alarm" if you want to receive warnings about your cruising speed.
When your cruising speed is higher than the legal speed limit for that road segment, you will hear an acoustic warning; moreover, the cruising speed in the navigation bar (bottom of the screen) will blink for a few seconds and its background will become red.
When your cruising speed is lower than the legal speed limit for that road segment, you will hear an acoustic warning.
Speed cameras
Select "Speed camera" if you want to receive visual and acoustic warnings when you are approaching a speed camera along the route.
Warn only along route
Select "Warn only along route" if you are interested in locations exactly near the road. Don't select this option if you are interested also in locations in the road proximity of 50 metres / 60 yards.
Warning distance
Select "Warning distance" and specify the distance from which you want to be warned.

In the ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation application, tap on the "Menu" key and select "Search". In the Free Text Search field insert the postcode and press on the magnifying glass icon at the right. The list with the found results will be displayed. Select the entry that matches best your search.
For accurate results insert the postcode respecting the correct spacing.

ROUTE 66 Follow Me uses advanced automatic calibration to determine where on your screen the Follow Me car will be displayed to look realistic and offer the best guidance.
If the Follow Me car appears too high or too low on your screen, you can fine-tune the vertical perspective manually: tap on the "Menu" key, select "More - Settings - Navigation - Camera elevation" and enter the height in centimetres or yards (measured from ground level to camera position).
If the Follow me car is too small or too large on the screen, you can adjust its size manually: tap on the "Menu" key, and then select "More - Settings - Navigation - Camera field of view". The wider the field of view, the smaller the Follow Me car appears to be.

During the use of Follow Me you can tap on the Follow Me car to access the overview of car models and select another car. ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation comes with one car pre-installed. You can download additional cars at any time:
- Open the Menu, and select "More - Settings - Navigation - Car models".
- You will see an overview of the cars you have already downloaded.
- Tap on the "Download" button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select any car model to start the download. Tap again if you need to cancel the download.
- The download progress is shown at the right side of each car.
- Use the back button on your device to go back to the overview of cars downloaded and select your Follow Me car.

To improve the GPS fix in the ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation application, the battery of your phone or tablet should be fully charged. The higher the battery level is, the more accurate the GPS signal reception will be.
While driving, we recommend having the device connected to the car charger.
Also, using a mobile network connection on your phone will help find your GPS position faster.

Place your device in landscape mode and use a good quality car mount to secure your smartphone or tablet to the windscreen of your car. Make sure the suction cup does not block the view of the camera on the back of your smartphone or tablet.
Mount the device in the centre of your windscreen for the best performance. Although a higher position of the camera will have a positive effect on the Follow Me performance, we do suggest that you mount the device in a position that does not obstruct your view.

Switching Follow Me on and off is easy. During turn-by-turn navigation in map view you will see a map + camera icon in the lower right corner of your screen.
Tap this icon and the regular navigation screen will switch to the Follow Me Split Screen view. The Split Screen view is only available when your device is placed in landscape mode. The Split Screen view provides you with a small map at the side of the Follow Me view, allowing you to keep the map overview visible at all times.
The icon in the lower right corner has turned into a camera icon. Tap this icon to switch to the full screen Follow Me view.
Now the camera icon has turned into a map icon. Tap this icon to turn back to the traditional map view navigation mode.

During navigation and route simulation the standard menu will be replaced by the Shortcuts menu, which presents direct access to a selection of functions that are frequently used during navigation.
To open the Shortcuts menu, tap the menu button or tap anywhere on the Navigation Bar. You can close the Shortcuts menu by using the "Back" button on your Android device.
These are the functions you can access via the Shortcuts menu:
- Stop navigation / Stop simulation: abort the current navigation/simulation and return to the map viewer.
- Search along route: quickly search for Points of interest along your current route.
- Search: use any of the Search tools available to find a location.
- Update traffic info.: get the latest traffic information from the ROUTE 66 server.
- Update Speed cameras: get the latest Speed camera data from the ROUTE 66 server.
- Define roadblock: define a roadblock on your route, an alternative route will be calculated if possible.
- Route description: get a turn-by-turn route description of your current route.
- Sound off /on : toggle between sound off and sound on.
- Night/Day colours: toggle the map view between day colours and night colours.
- Next layout: switch between the three different navigation layouts:
• only navigation bar
• navigation bar + navigation arrow
• navigation bar + street names + navigation arrow.
- 2D/3D perspective: toggle the map view between 2D and 3D views.
- Trip statistics: display trip statistics including travel distance and time, total distance and time driven already, average speed and maximum speed.
- GPS information: display detailed information about your current position, the accuracy of the GPS signal and other useful information.

In the Navigation settings you can specify how your route has to be calculated. Open the menu, and tap "More - Settings - Navigation".
In "Travel mode" you can select the route calculation options according to your personal preferences: "Fastest", "Shortest" or "Ask always".
You can select the options "Avoid motorways", "Avoid toll roads" and "Avoid ferries" to exclude them from your route.

As soon as a route is calculated you will see a route overview on the map. Now you can:
- Start Turn-by-turn navigation by tapping on the "Start" icon in the lower right corner of the screen. The route will be calculated once more, based on your actual position.
In order to navigate with ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation you need to enable the GPS receiver on your device and you need to have a valid GPS position fix. The navigation does not work with a position provided by Wi-Fi or mobile network.
- Explore the route, either by zooming in on the map manually, or by using the arrows in the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the screen to zoom in on each turn of your route.
- Simulate the route: tap the "Menu" key of the device, and select "Simulate route".
- Explore the route description in detail: tap the "Menu" key of the device, and select "Route description".

There are three easy ways to calculate a route and start your trip.
1. On the map: Tap and hold your finger on the destination point for 2 seconds and the Info + Go bubble appears with direct access to "Drive to" and "Walk to". Select one of these options and your route will be calculated from your position to the destination.
2. Via "Search": In the menu, select the "Search" option. Use any of the functions to find your destination. In the "Location details" view, select "Drive to" or "Walk to" to start the route calculation.
3. Using the "Directions" option: open the menu, and select "Directions". Here you can define a new trip or you can choose from the list of recent trips.
Trips usually start at your current position, but if you want to calculate a route that has a different departure point, tap on "My position" and search for the departure location. You can set the destination in the same manner.
Press on the "Drive to" icon if you want to drive, or the "Walk to" icon if you want to walk to the selected destination.
Tap "Go" and your route will be calculated. The route overview will be displayed on the map.

Open the menu and go to "Search". Here you have the following options:
- Free Text Search: is a comprehensive search engine that lets you search the worldwide map and POI database. Enter the characters that specify the location you are looking for. On the below link you can find useful examples that illustrate how "Free Text Search" works.

- History: select from the list of recent locations you have found and displayed on the map.
- Address: is a step-by-step search function which is also useful for finding intersections. It allows you to search by country, city, street, street number and intersection.
- Points of interest: select the POI category you would like to explore and you will get a list of results around your current location on the map.
- Contacts: search the contacts you have stored in the address book of your device.
- Favourites: select from the list of all the locations you have marked as "Favourite" in the application.
When searching while an Internet connection is available (online), the application will use all the map and POI data available on the ROUTE 66 servers. In offline mode the application will use only the maps stored on the device and those parts of the map (map tiles) that have already been cached during online use.

Using the menu "Download maps" you can download complete road maps to your device. When updated maps are available, the application will alert you instantly. Downloading maps is free for registered users. You will be asked to register when you start to download your first map.
You need a Wi-Fi Internet connection to download maps.
- Open the menu, and then select "Download maps".
- You will see an overview of all the maps you have already downloaded.
- Tap on the "Download" button at the bottom of the screen to download additional maps.
- Press on a continent name to see all the maps available on this continent.
- Tap on the desired map name to start the download. Tap again if you want to cancel the download. Download progress is shown at the right side of each line.
Note: you can download multiple maps at the same time.

"Online maps" means that the maps are stored on a server to which you connect via the Internet. If your smartphone or tablet has a working Internet connection, ROUTE 66 Maps + Navigation automatically starts to download the map data you need from our high-speed servers. These map tiles are automatically stored on your device, so you never have to download the same part of a map twice.
With online maps you always have access to all the latest maps, covering over 100 countries. This means that you can immediately browse any map you like and the "Search" menu will perform its searches worldwide; a road network of over 35,000,000 kilometres and over 20,000,000 points of interest are waiting for you!

The "Location details" view is your central hub to a wealth of information and useful functions related to a particular location.
You can reach the "Location details" in either of these ways:
- Tap the screen on the desired location. The Info bubble appears. Press on the Info bubble.
- Press the "Menu" button of the device. Select the "Search" option. Search for a location using one of the displayed methods. From the list of results select the desired entry.
The following options are available:
- The Star next to the location name. Tap the Star and the selected location will be added to your Favourites.
- Show on map. Press to display the selected location on the map.
- Drive to. Press to start driving to the selected location.
- Walk to. Press to start walking to the selected location.
- Get directions. Add this location to a route you want to calculate.
- Call. Call the selected location (only if the information is available in the Points of interest database).
- Open website. Check the location's website (only if the information is available in the Points of interest database).
- Save as contact. Save the selected location in the address book of your device.
- What's nearby? Get an instant overview of nearby points of interest (POIs) and Favourites.
- Search around. Start a search around this location.
- Show weather. Display weather reports, including a 14-day weather forecast.
- Send. Share this location with others via SMS, MMS, or via e-mail.

Either of the following steps can be followed:
1. Tap once on the map and the Info bubble appears with the name of the selected location. Tap on the Info bubble to open the "Location details" view. In the "Location details" view you can select the functions "Drive to" or "Walk to". Your route will be calculated from your current position to this location.
On the lower right corner press on the "Start" icon to start your navigation.
2. Tap and hold one finger on the map for two seconds and the Info bubble now also allows you to select the navigation method. Select between "Drive to" and "Walk to", and your route will be calculated straight away.
