Guidelines for using ROUTE 66 artwork

These guidelines are for ROUTE 66 Resellers, Distributors, Customers, Journalists, Magazines, and other third parties wishing to use ROUTE 66's trademarks, service marks or images in promotional, advertising, instructional, or reference materials, or on their web sites, products, labels, or packaging.
Authorized Use of ROUTE 66 Trademarks

1. Advertising, Promotional, and Sales Materials: Only ROUTE 66 and its Resellers and Distributors can use the ROUTE 66 Logo in advertising, promotional, and sales materials.

2. Publications: Third parties can use an ROUTE 66  trademark in connection with book titles, magazines, newspapers or periodicals provided they comply with the following requirements:

a. The use reflects favorably on both ROUTE 66 and ROUTE 66 products or technology.

b. The third party name and logo appear more prominent than the ROUTE 66 word mark on all printed materials related to the publication.

c. A trademark attribution notice is included in the credit section giving notice of ROUTE 66’s ownership of its trademark(s). Please refer to the section below titled "Proper Trademark Notice and Attribution."

3. Web Sites: Third party web sites that serve only as noncommercial electronic informational forums concerning an ROUTE 66 product or technology can use the appropriate ROUTE 66 word mark, provided such use complies with the guidelines.

Rules for Proper Use of ROUTE 66 Trademarks

1. Trademarks are adjectives used to modify nouns; the noun is the generic name of a product or service.

2. As adjectives, trademarks are not to be used in the plural or possessive form.

Correct: I bought two ROUTE 66 products.

Not Correct: I bought two ROUTE 66's.

3. Always spell and capitalize ROUTE 66’s trademarks exactly as they are shown (Example: use 'ROUTE 66' and not 'Route 66'). Do not shorten or abbreviate ROUTE 66 product names (Example: use 'ROUTE 66 Route Europe Professional 2001-2002 for Windows' and not 'Europe Professional'). Do not make up names that contain ROUTE 66 trademarks.

Proper Trademark Notice and Attribution

1. On product, product documentation, or other product communications, use the appropriate trademark symbol (TM, sm, ®) the first time the ROUTE 66 trademark appears in the text of the advertisement, brochure, or other material.

2. Include an attribution of ROUTE 66’s ownership of its trademarks within the credit notice section of your product, product documentation, or other product communication.
