ROUTE 66 selected by SAMSUNG to provide mapping and navigation solution for SAMSUNG I8910U smart phone

Shanghai-China, November 20, 2009 - SAMSUNG China today announces the launch of the SAMSUNG I8910U smartphone in China, which will be bundled with SAMSUNG LBS, an advanced mapping and navigation solution developed by ROUTE 66. Featuring innovative HighDef map technology, enhanced car and pedestrian navigation, as well as a wide range of extra geographic content and location based services, including traffic information, safety camera locations, 3D buildings and 3D landmarks, SAMSUNG LBS provides users with an unmatched navigation experience on their mobile device.

The I8910U comes with the largest Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) screen on mobile phones. The 3.7" AMOLED touch screen offers unrivaled sharpness of tone, vivid colours and greater clarity in direct sunlight, while clocking up less power consumption. Together with the excellent audio experience and the highly sensitive GPS receiver this phone offers a perfect match with the SAMSUNG LBS.

Enhanced in-car and pedestrian navigation

With leading-edge car and pedestrian navigation, featuring fast route planning, clear turn-by-turn instructions and automatic re-routing, users of SAMSUNG LBS can confidently explore the world both by car and on foot. Drivers can now even rely on accurate lane information for an optimised driving experience through complex junctions and motorway exits. Speed warnings and safety camera warnings help users to avoid speed tickets. In addition, pedestrian navigation now also provides guidance through parks and small streets and is available in more cities around the world than ever before.

Free ROUTE 66 Sync desktop application now also features route planner

The SAMSUNG LBS mobile application comes standard with a free desktop application, ROUTE 66 Sync. Besides content management for mobile devices, as well as easy access to extra geographic content and location based services in the ROUTE 66 Store, the new ROUTE 66 Sync desktop application now also contains an outstanding route planner. This new feature offers users the possibility to browse worldwide maps, save favourite locations and plan routes on their desktop, and then to transfer their favourite locations and routes to their mobile devices.
