Your sat nav will show ‘no GPS’ until a valid satellite signal is present. Please remember that a satellite signal is not like radio waves or mobile phone coverage, a sat nav requires direct line of sight connection (e.g mounted on your car windscreen). To test your signal navigate to any address that you know but make sure it is not the address where you are. Go outside to your car to allow the unit to receive a signal. Allow a couple of minutes for the signal to triangulate. As soon as the unit gets a signal you will hear the voice instructions activate stating “your route is being calculated”.
It is very unlikely that you will find an error in the mapping data but if you do try to consider possible reasons. These include new streets, recent road changes, industrial estates, post code changes and post code area coverage. All of these reasons along with the massive logistical challenge of mapping the whole planet must be considered.
Please ensure that you correctly input the space in the post code as you would when writing an address on an envelope, for example, DN6 7FB or DN14 7NX
If you can't find the postcode use the street name and the town/city or the street name and the first part of the postcode. If you know the house number you can add this but leave a space.
No problem, if you cannot save an address by either the street name and town or the post code then you can always save it via a GPS position on the map.
Yes, all RAC sat navs can be used in conjunction with an active antenna but, due to the high quality receivers installed on the RAC range it is very unlikely that one will ever be needed.
The battery will usually last for about 2 hours when fully charged. Please remember that the battery is a back-up power source for use in ‘pedestrian’ mode and the sat nav should be plugged in to the auxiliary power socket (cigarette lighter) whilst in the vehicle.
Yes, all spare parts and accessories are available by calling the RAC help line 01302 720006.
Tap the main map screen to access the menu. Select the change settings option. Select the set time/date option and you can now alter the time zone you are in. NB During British Summer Time the time on the GPS Information page will seem to be one hour out, this is because the GPS Information page shows the signal from the closest satellite which is the Greenwich Meantime Satellite. All time information given by the unit will still be perfectly accurate.
The help line is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm – 01302 720006

The CD is a back-up copy of the software that is installed on the SD card in your RAC sat nav. You do not need it immediately but the CD should be kept safe in case it might be needed in the future.
We recommend that all data transfer is done directly between your PC and the SD card via a card reader/writer.
– From the main menu select the POI (points of interest) icon and then select the POI ALARM icon. The items in this section are in alphabetical order, by touching an item you will highlight a blue tick on the left hand side. Please tick all items that are referred to as: o BUS LANE CONTROL o END SECTION o REDLIGHT o SECTION SPEED o SPEED LIMIT – Depending on which RAC SAT NAV you have purchased there are between 15 and 20 items in total that fall into the above categories. As soon as you have ticked them all you should press the green tick in the bottom right hand corner. We now suggest the following set up: Select SHOW ICON AND DISTANCE IN TOP LEFT CORNER – Press the green tick in the bottom right hand corner. Select 800 YARDS – Press the green tick in the bottom right hand corner. On the next screen you will see a tick box entitled 'Warn only on route', DO NOT tick this box. Further down the page you can choose your warning sound by selecting the green left and right arrows and test the sound by pressing TEST SOUND. As soon as you are happy with your warning sound press the green tick in the bottom right hand corner. Your RAC sat nav will return to the map screen and your safety cameras are set.
